Chapter Eight

SANDY GAVE Nick directions to his apartment, and the trip back passed much too quickly. Nick parked, and together they walked to Sandy’s front door.

“Want me to show you around?” Sandy asked, holding the door open.

“I’d like that.”

“Well, come on, then.” He held the door open for Nick. “There’s not much to see.”

He gave Nick a quick tour. His kitchen was very modern, the den small with nice leather couches, a small laundry room, and finally the two bedrooms.

“Is this all yours?”

“No. Lonnie and I live together. Since I took the master bedroom with the attached bath, I pay more. He has the other bedroom and his own bath. It’s just not attached.”

“Lonnie is your roommate?” Nick asked as he followed Sandy back to the den.

“Yes. Did I not mention that?”

“I don’t think so, but I could be wrong.”

They talked for a few minutes more; then Nick kissed him good-bye. Before he left they exchanged phone numbers and e-mail addresses and made tentative plans to get together soon.
